Curt Kowalczyk is an American Board of Certification (ABC) Certified Orthotist with over 30 years of experience specializing in complex lower extremity orthoses. He was originally trained at the Academy of Health Sciences by the US Army. His draw to Orthotics came from a desire to help people. Curt decided not to pursue Prosthetics and instead focused on becoming an expert in complex orthotic pathologies.
After active duty, he pursued a dual major receiving a BS in Physiology and History. He went on to become a Research Associate in the Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Minnesota, Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
In, 1991 Curt was once again called to active duty in support of Desert Storm as an Orthotist.
Following Desert Storm, Curt went on to work in direct patient care for a time. Thereafter, Curt began work for Ottobock, the world’s largest Orthotic and Prosthetic manufacturer, as an educator in the Patient Care Services Department. He has 14 years of national and international experience educating and lecturing. While at Ottobock, he was instrumental in bringing to market many advanced technologies including the EMAG, SensorWalk, CBrace, and Carbon Ankle Seven orthoses.
