Cory Cacciola, MS, CPO, is an American Board for Certification (ABC) certified prosthetist orthotist in the Ability Ottobock.care facility in King of Prussia.

Cory first became interested in the profession while obtaining his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at University of Delaware. By Cory’s sophomore year at University of Delaware, he joined the Orthotics and Prosthetics Club where he and his team developed the “Rehab-to-Go” device; a device designed to assist in gait training for a person with an amputation while not at physical therapy or the prosthetist’s office. This device won the First Step Innovation Award. Cory also worked in the BADAR Lab conducting research on Passive Dynamic AFOs, where he was responsible for using CAD software to 3D model the AFOs to the desired stiffness based on the subject’s strength.

Cory then went on to receive his Master of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He completed his NCOPE residency at six different orthotic and prosthetic facilities in five different cities across the United States, gaining a wide range of knowledge in advanced orthotic and prosthetic devices. He specialized in treating patients with Custom Carbon Fiber AFOs while at the Department of Defense in San Diego. He was also trained by two Rigo-Cheneau Certified Orthotists in treating scoliosis via 3-dimensional TLSO interventions. Cory is also skilled in treating transfemoral patients using the NU-Flex Subischial Prosthetic Socket.

While at Baylor College of Medicine, Cory completed his Master’s Thesis: Analysis of Patient Reported Pain with Use of a Powered Prosthetic Ankle-Foot System. After completing the study, Cory went on to present his work at two national meetings.

Cory spent a year working side-by-side with pediatric orthopedic physicians in the New York City Area to treat pediatric patients with a wide variety of conditions. He is excited to be a part of the Ability Ottobock.care team in southeast Pennsylvania, where he can combine his passion of research and outcome measures to treat his patients.
