Andy Miller, MSPO

Resident Prosthetist Orthotist

Hagerstown, MD

Andy Miller is a resident prosthetist and orthotist at the Ability Ottobock.care facility in Hagerstown, MD.

Andy graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee where he double majored in biomedical engineering and statistics. During his undergraduate career, he worked as an undergraduate researcher in a Computational Biomechanics Lab where he received recognition by the World Congress of Biomechanics in 2018 and the International Society of Biomechanics in 2019 for his work on passive dynamic walkers.

Once graduated, Andy managed a team of medical scribes in an out-patient clinical environment. Here, Andy recognized that his passion involved patient care instead of computational work. He thoroughly enjoyed interacting with patients and the healthcare team to provide the best care possible. During this time, Andy discovered the field of prosthetics and orthotics and began shadowing at a local O&P clinic. Being able to combine his interests in biomedical engineering and data collection with his passion for patient care, Andy felt that the field of O&P was where he belonged.

Andy continued on to receive a master’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He is excited to complete his residency with Ability Ottobock.care and explore the new opportunities available to him. His professional interests include three-dimensional scanning, computer-aided design and manufacturing, and discovering innovative solutions for complicated cases. As a Maryland native, Andy and his wife, Nicole, are looking forward to planting roots in Hagerstown and making a positive impact on the community.
